In de mengsproeier worden de twee componenten - de hars en de verharder - in precies de juiste verhouding gemengd. Het mondstuk mag daarom nooit worden afgesneden, zoals meestal het geval is bij siliconiseren, omdat de verhouding anders niet meer klopt en de lijmprestaties afnemen. Een afgesneden mengmondstuk en het resulterende verkeerde lijmmengsel kunnen er zelfs voor zorgen dat een component onder ongunstige omstandigheden uit de voegen van een afgewerkte zoutwand vloeit. Als een mengmondstuk verstopt is, is het daarom essentieel om een nieuw mengmondstuk te gebruiken.
