Perfect for the salt mill, and if it is transparent, you can see the beautiful little pink salt crystals, very decorative!
This coarse pink rock salt is ideal as table salt for cooking. The French must know, because they have been using their "gros sel" for centuries for precisely this purpose. It does not clump together and dissolves more quickly than fine salt.
Moreover, coarse salt is particularly suitable for use as bath salt, as it dissolves more quickly than fine salt. The reason for this is that the water reaches all surfaces of the salt crystals more quickly and unhindered and can begin the dissolving process immediately. This is not the case with fine salt; the water does not reach all surfaces immediately because there is a kind of congestion due to the surface tension of the water. Fine salt only dissolves faster than coarse salt if you stir it. But who wants to do that in the bath? This is why all bath salts have always been coarse-grained.

This coarse pink rock salt is one hundred per cent natural. It contains no separating agents, anti-caking agents or any other additives. With coarse salt of this grain size of 2 to 5 millimetres, the salt does not clump together anyway. The individual salt crystals are far too large for this. Release agents would therefore not be necessary, also for reasons of bulk.

This coarse pink rock salt is packaged in 500 grammes in a four-colour sales pack with a window and inner bag. The pack is labelled with the brand name "Indusal", including "Indus salt - coarse pink table salt", subtitle: "From the Salt Range between Indus and the Himalayas" on one side and "Indus salt - coarse pink table salt", subtitle: "From the Salt Range between the river Indus and the Himalayan mountains" on the other. A description in six languages is printed on the label: German, French, Hungarian, English, Italian and Spanish. The text reads:

"Thousands of years ago, the ancient Indians discovered the mountain salt from the Salt Range of the Indus Valley, located in present-day Pakistan. Even ancient Indian scholars praised it as the best of all salts. Indus salt is 500 million years old, unrefined and natural."

The photo was taken by us during our trip to Pakistan in 2006 near Attok. This is where the two rivers Kabul and Indus meet. The Kabul is called the "Black Kabul" because its water is dark in colour and the Indus is called the "White Indus" because its water is light in colour. The difference in colour can be clearly seen in the photo: the Black Kabul is dark green and the White Indus is light green. Alexander the Great is said to have crossed the Indus at this point.
